Former Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson Claims He Cheated On Drug Tests Using His Daughter’s Urine
Mike Tyson has been in many controversies throughout his boxing career: from rape, talking crazily or acting violently outside of the ring, biting a piece of an opponent’s ear, to indiscriminate spending of money. The man who was once labeled as “The Baddest Man on the Planet” during his prime years may live up to what it really suggests. He’s using drugs in some of his fights back then, which we wouldn’t know about until he recently admitted to it.
Mike Tyson has repeatedly denied allegations about using steroids during his boxing career, but now, at 54, he decided to open up and tell the truth. In a recent podcast titled “Hotboxin ‘With Mike Tyson,” the former heavyweight boxing champion has opened up to UFC Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky about using a “whizzinator.” Tyson would use the whizzinator, which is a prosthetic penis, filled with his daughter’s urine, to avoid testing positive for drugs.
“I put my baby’s urine in it,” Tyson told Novitzky. “And sometimes, one time I was using my wife’s and my wife was like ‘Baby, you better not hope that it comes back pregnant or something.’ And I said, ‘Nah, so we ain’t gonna use you any more, we’re gonna use the kid.'”
However, it is not clear which drugs he is avoiding testing positive for, but based on what he has confessed in the past, he liked to use marijuana and cocaine. But has drug use contributed a lot to his rise as a fighter? We would not know. We cannot be sure. It is difficult to draw conclusions about that part.
But during his controversial match with Lou Savarese in June 2000, word emerged that Tyson used a particular substance moments before the fight. The fight ended with Mike Tyson knocking out Savarese seconds in the first round, then hitting the referee who wanted to stop him because the fight was over.
In an interview with BBC, Savarese expressed how it was so unfair for his opponent to use drugs that night. “It is not fair if you are taking drugs before the fight,” said Savarese. “You want to have a level playing field.”
While Savarese admitted that Tyson was a good spiker and could have stopped him after the knockout, he regretted how the round ended. “I didn’t think the fight was over,” said Savarese. “I just thought he got disqualified or whatever. I thought the referee had stopped the fight because Tyson had hit him when he got in the middle of us. I didn’t know they were stopping the fight because of me getting hurt.”
Mike Tyson, who is considered the most remarkable athlete of his time, will face Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match on November 28. Tyson became world champion at the age of 20. He is best known as a fast, skilled, and incredibly destructive fighter in the heavyweight division.
